Indonesia & Switzerland Launch Strategic Cooperation Program 2025–2028 to Support Golden Indonesia 2045

JAKARTA – In an effort to strengthen bilateral relations, the Minister for National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy welcomed an official delegation from Switzerland, led by Federal Councillor of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education, and Research (EAER) Guy Parmelin, at the Bappenas Office on Wednesday (1 October).

The meeting discussed the long-standing and productive cooperation between Indonesia and Switzerland, particularly in the fields of economic development and bilateral partnerships. Since 1971, this collaboration has continued to grow, further strengthened through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in 2018, as a reflection of mutual trust and friendship between the two countries.

“For Indonesia, Switzerland is more than just a partner. It is a trusted friend. Now is the time for us to move forward together and turn ideas into real action,” said Minister Rachmat.

The visit also marked the official launch of the 2025-2028 Economic Cooperation and Development Programme, a joint initiative designed to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Indonesia and support the implementation of the free trade agreement. Through this program, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is collaborating to contribute to the achievement of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision and the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

“The launch of this economic development program marks an important step in strengthening cooperation between Switzerland and Indonesia. It reflects the values we share and our joint commitment to supporting the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. Together with our partners in Indonesia, we aim to foster more inclusive growth, strengthen sustainable value chains, create more opportunities for young people, and design urban development solutions that truly respond to people’s needs,” said Guy Parmelin.

The program focuses on policies and frameworks that promote well-being, the development of a resilient and inclusive workforce, and sustainable infrastructure and urban systems. Its three main priorities are: stronger economic policies for welfare, inclusive and competitive human resources, and sustainable infrastructure with resilient cities.

“Looking ahead, we hope this long-standing partnership can serve as a model for other countries by showing how collaboration can bring both economic and social benefits,” added Minister Rachmat.

Bappenas and SECO reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Indonesia–Switzerland development cooperation and ensuring that this program delivers tangible results, drives inclusive growth, and contributes to long-term prosperity.

“This program is not merely a continuation, but a stepping stone toward the future. The timing is also perfect, as next year we will celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Switzerland. We hope this marks the beginning of an even stronger partnership in the years to come,” concluded the Minister.
