JAKARTA – The Minister for National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy and President of Airbus Asia-Pacific Anand Stanley signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) at the Bappenas Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, as a commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s national aerospace industry. The agreement is aligned with the 2022–2045 Roadmap for the Development of Indonesia’s Aerospace Industry Ecosystem.
Both parties will explore cooperation opportunities covering the strengthening of domestic industrial capacity, as well as the development of the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector across various Airbus product lines.
“The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas has formulated an Aerospace Industry Roadmap. Accordingly, we remain committed to continuously overseeing the sustainable development of the aerospace industry ecosystem and hope that Airbus will become an equal business partner through knowledge and experience sharing,” Minister Rachmat stated.
This partnership is expected to improve inter-island connectivity through the development of airport infrastructure and aviation services. By 2045, air traffic growth is projected to increase up to fourfold in a more efficient and sustainable manner.
“Airbus is committed to expanding its global operations in regions where our products and services can make tangible contributions to national development agendas,” Anand Stanley stated. “We view Indonesia as a strategic partner and stand ready to align our global expertise with Indonesia’s aerospace roadmap to deliver long-term and mutually beneficial outcomes.”
The cooperation will be followed up through efforts to accelerate the enhancement of human resource capabilities, technology utilisation, and stronger standardisation aligned with the needs and dynamics of Indonesia’s aerospace industry.
This collaboration also supports Indonesia’s long-term national development direction and represents a concrete and strategic step towards achieving Golden Indonesia 2045.
