The Minister for National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy attended the inaugural plenary session of the Government Digital Transformation Acceleration Committee, marking the kick-off of Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2023 on Accelerating Digital Transformation and Integrating National Digital Services at the National Economic Council Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (26/8).
This agenda represents the first step in accelerating digital transformation, which has become a government priority both in the long term through the 2025–2045 National Long-Term Development Plan and in the medium term through the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan.
The Digital Transformation Acceleration Committee is tasked with unifying policy direction and implementing government digitalization. Its main focus includes developing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which consists of Digital ID, Government Cloud, Data Exchange, and a Super-App. In addition, the committee plays a role in ensuring digital security and sovereignty, enhancing civil servant competencies, and overseeing the achievement of Indonesia's Digital Government 2045 targets.
Minister Rachmat Pambudy emphasized the importance of accelerating digital transformation to support national development goals. Meanwhile, the implementation of integrated e-government also has the potential to save up to 30 percent of the state budget.
“With digitalization, the government can work more accurately, efficiently, and transparently. The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas is committed to designing this digitalization strategy for the national interest. Therefore, we need a strong data foundation and a clear national strategy to ensure that digital transformation stays on track,” stressed Minister Rachmat.
The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas has prepared five recommendations to accelerate national digital transformation. First, developing reliable hardware as the foundation of transformation. Second, advancing software, including cross-service super-apps. Third, strengthening brainware through human resource capacity building. Fourth, securing the system with cybersecurity defenses from the central to the village level. Fifth, achieving digital independence to ensure equal capacity across all regions of Indonesia.
“As a large nation, we must ensure that digital independence is built from the center to the regions. Digital transformation is not only about technology but also about sovereignty and equitable development,” concluded the Minister.
