Bappenas Prepares National Productivity Master Plan as Key to Achieving Golden Indonesia Vision

The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas remains committed to driving Indonesia’s economic transformation out of the middle-income trap and toward global competitiveness through the preparation of the National Productivity Master Plan (MPPN). “This Master Plan is expected to serve as a collective instrument to make productivity the main driver of national development toward the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision,” explained the Deputy for Macro Development Planning at Bappenas, Eka Chandra Buana during the Dissemination of the Draft Final Report of the MPPN in Jakarta on Thursday (28/8).

Bappenas presented the outcomes of the MPPN drafting process while also gathering input from stakeholders before the document’s formal adoption. In collaboration with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), the MPPN provides an initial framework to guide Indonesia’s development toward an era of productivity-led growth.

The Ministry for Social Affairs and Poverty Reduction Expert Staff Pungkas Bahjuri Ali emphasized that improving productivity is not only about economics but also about enhancing people’s welfare. “Productivity-based growth will help reduce poverty, create decent jobs, and strengthen Indonesia’s socio-economic resilience,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Head of the In-Country Programs Division of APO Arsyoni Buana highlighted the importance of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) in accelerating development. As a key determinant of a nation’s productivity, strong TFP must be supported by innovation, technology, and education. With the right capital and labor resources, every country is expected to optimize its potential to achieve long-term and sustainable growth.
