Bappenas and Huawei Strengthen Cooperation to Accelerate National Digital Transformation

The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Huawei Tech Investment to strengthen cooperation in advancing national digital transformation and information technology solutions on Tuesday, 11 November.

In his remarks, the Vice Minister for National Development Planning/Vice Head of Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard underscored the critical importance of mastering innovation for Indonesia’s future development.

“Indonesia’s future will be determined by how effectively we can master knowledge, innovation, and technology. The 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) places digital transformation and the strengthening of the innovation ecosystem at the core of our national development strategy. We want to ensure that technology works for people, not people who work for technology,” said Vice Minister Febrian.

Through this partnership, the Ministry and Huawei aim to enhance human capital and institutional capacity by strengthening national proficiency in digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), while designing and implementing a digital infrastructure roadmap to accelerate digital transformation across the public sector and industry.

The partnership is also expected to cultivate a model digital ecosystem and establish sandbox programs for emerging technologies that can be widely adopted throughout Indonesia, as well as facilitate exchanges of expertise, best practices, and global experience to ensure that digital transformation progresses in a transparent, inclusive, and accountable manner.

This cooperation is also intended to serve as an example for the wider Asian region in building technology partnerships that integrate national vision, global expertise, and the values of trust and mutual respect. “Let this signing not be the conclusion of a process, but the beginning of a movement where ideas evolve into innovation, and innovation produces real impact,” concluded Vice Minister Febrian.
