Bappenas Holds Public Consultation for Strategic Environmental Assessment for the RPJPN

JAKARTA – The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas held a public consultation forum on Wednesday (31/5) as part of the final preparation stage for drafting the Strategic Environmental Assessment (KLHS) for the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN).

The agenda aims to convey the results of policy, planning, and program (KRP) recommendations from the KLHS modeling analysis to be integrated into the 2025-2045 RPJPN and obtain public response to the results of the KRP. This forum also discussed strategies for realizing the Indonesia 2045 Vision, which emphasizes the goal of becoming a sovereign, advanced, and sustainable archipelago.

Preparations for the KLHS are in its initial stages, containing a series of analyses, systematic, comprehensive, and participatory measures to ensure that the principles of sustainable development form the basis and are integrated in development, both from a regional perspective and sector policy frameworks and programs.

“Of course through this KLHS, we want to ensure that the principles of sustainable development are integrated into long-term national development, which will later be derived in the five-year development plan,” said Bappenas’ Deputy of Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources Vivi Yulaswati.

The preparation of the 2025-2045 RPJPN KLHS consists of several stages. These include the identification, formulation, and determination of sustainable development issues, the study of the influence of the KRP, the formulation of alternatives to improve the KRP, and the preparation of recommendations for improvement of PPP decision making.

The recommendations of the RPJPN KLHS include considerations regarding climate change, green economy, energy transition, agriculture, forestry and land use, disaster resilience, pollution and environmental damage, and biodiversity.

As chair of the 2025-2045 RPJPN Preperation Team, Bappenas’ Deputy of Economic Affairs Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti emphasized that the KLHS is an important foundation in transformation efforts, bearing in mind that future development needs to balance social, economic, and environmental aspects. The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas will position the KLHS as an important foundation in finalizing the 2025-2045 RPJPN, ensuring that the direction of development still considers the carrying capacity of the environment.

“Therefore, let us collaborate and together ensure that we will guard the sustainability principles together within the 2025-2045 RPJPN,” Amalia said.
